Veterinary Pharmacy Network — in Development

AnimalRx is being built as the pharmacy-facing side of a planned veterinary prescription network. The product is in active development; specific regulatory features (DEA Schedule routing, controlled-substance refill rules, EPCS receipt, state PDMP integration) are gated by federal/state licensing milestones and are not available today.

For Pharmacies

Stop transcribing handwritten faxes. Receive structured, pre-validated prescriptions with drug, dose, species, weight, and veterinarian credentials already confirmed.

Intake

Structured Digital Rx — No More Faxed Handwriting

Every prescription arrives as a validated digital record. Drug name from a vetted formulary, dose confirmed in range, species-appropriate route, and prescribing veterinarian credentials verified before the Rx leaves the practice.

  • Structured data — no interpretation or transcription required
  • Prescriber license verified against The Vet Registry before arrival (planned)
  • Controlled-substance handling is a federal-licensing-gated milestone (Patent 3, Q4 2026 target)
  • Compounding requests flagged with formulation requirements (planned)
Fulfillment (planned)

Fulfillment Confirmation Returns to the Animal Record

The plan: when you fill the prescription, a confirmation routes back to the patient record and notifies the prescribing veterinarian, keeping the animal's medication history complete and current — automatically.

  • One-click fulfillment confirmation — no manual callbacks (planned)
  • Dispensed quantity and lot number recorded in the confirmation (planned)
  • Client notification triggered automatically on fill (planned)
  • Partial fills and backorder status communicated to prescriber (planned)
Operations

Refill Management and Workflow Tools

Manage refill authorizations, expiration tracking, and client communication from a single pharmacy dashboard. No separate system for veterinary prescriptions.

  • Refill request queue with prescriber authorization tracking (planned)
  • Rx expiration alerts — proactive outreach before client runs out (planned)
  • Controlled-substance refill rules are federal-licensing-gated (Q4 2026 target)
  • Multi-location inventory routing for pharmacy chains (planned)

For Veterinarians

The plan: your prescriptions reach the pharmacy through VetScript, you track fulfillment status without a phone call, and you manage refill authorizations from the patient record. (In active development.)

Prescribers (planned)

Instant Pharmacy Routing via VetScript

The plan: prescriptions originated in VetScript route to AnimalRx pharmacies instantly — no fax, no phone call, no separate portal login — with fulfillment status visible in the patient record within minutes of the pharmacy acting.

  • Fulfillment status updates in real time — no follow-up required (planned)
  • Client ready-for-pickup notification handled by AnimalRx (planned)
  • Refill authorization requests arrive in the VetScript queue (planned)
  • Partial fill and substitution notifications with reason codes (planned)
Records (planned)

Medication History in the Patient Timeline

The plan: every prescription dispensed through AnimalRx is recorded in the animal's medication history automatically — no manual entry, no gaps — with the complete pharmacological record following the animal through ownership changes.

  • Dispensed medications with lot, quantity, and fill date
  • Active medication list maintained automatically
  • Refill history with prescriber authorization chain
  • Records transfer with the animal on ownership change

How the Network Works

The intended four-stage pipeline from prescription origination to animal record update — in active development; the routing and fulfillment stages are not yet live.

1

VetScript Originates

Veterinarian creates a structured prescription in VetScript. Drug, dose, and license verification are part of the targeted architecture (cryptographic signing arrives with Patent 3, not today).

2

AnimalRx Routes

The prescription is routed to the client's chosen pharmacy through the AnimalRx network. The pharmacy receives a structured digital record — not a fax.

3

Pharmacy Fills

The pharmacy reviews, fills, and confirms dispensing through the AnimalRx dashboard. Client receives an automatic pickup notification.

4

Record Updated

Fulfillment confirmation routes back to the patient record. The animal's medication history is updated automatically — no data entry required.

Revenue Model

AnimalRx's planned model is a per-transaction routing fee — transparent pricing, no hidden costs, and no exclusivity requirements for pharmacies or veterinary practices.

Per-Transaction Routing Fee (planned)

The planned model: AnimalRx charges a flat per-transaction fee for each prescription successfully routed and confirmed, deducted automatically — pharmacies and veterinary practices see exactly what each transaction costs, with no monthly minimums and no volume commitments required to join the network.

Higher-volume pharmacies are intended to qualify for reduced per-transaction rates automatically. There are no exclusive pharmacy arrangements — any licensed pharmacy in the network would be able to receive any routed prescription.
